WW2 German Navy Tropical Field Cap - Original - AUD 99.00

Standard pattern other ranks Navy (Kriegsmarine) tropical field cap (Feldmtze) in khaki cotton. Gold yellow embroidered navy eagle on dark khaki material and cockade on a browner khaki material. Cap lacks the ventilation grommets found on similar army caps, and has a dark green impregnated cotton liner (like Navy Tropical helmets) instead of the Armys red coloured liner. Marked on inside crown with - 58 ?g. SchellenbergUniformmtzenfabrikBERLIN C2 First two or so characters below size are indistinct. Second word means Uniform Cap Factory Cap is undamaged, and but exhibits some signs of wear. Exterior surfaces show considerable sun bleaching and slight fabric wear, but bleaching is not uniform. Lining shows some spotting, but these spots are water soluble (I tried removing one, and it came off easily). Underside of visor is not sun bleached. Size 58 (about size 7). Well manufactured. Insignia was machine stitched to the cap, at the time of manufacture. Insignia is not as pretty as the BeVo versions, but is well made. I very seldom use the word rare (as it is generally overused in the collecting world), but this piece qualifies. Please do not bid on this item if you live in a country

Standard M35 Design. Helmet used by all German Military Forces, but decals have been removed. The helmet was originally covered with the standard smooth green paint, and then overpainted with white. Some of the external white paint has a rough finish, but this is not evenly applied. Looks like dust or sand that got trapped by the paint before it dried. I dont know if this was deliberately done or not (German soldiers sometimes added sand to paint, to give a rough finish, and cut down the possibility of shine). The original paint is still in evidence where the white paint has been chipped away on the rear rim, and where the decals used to be. White paint has discoloured unevenly on exposed areas. The chinstrap is missing. Helmet has a light tan coloured liner. Liner came with the helmet, and is undamaged, apart from wear to the exposed rim. Helmet was in poor condition when I got it, and so I removed the liner, to clean it (it was caked in dirt). Leather is still supple, and thus I did not treat it, although it would probably benefit from that. See photos showing the components, before I re-assembled it. Only the original parts were used. I did not replace anything, and nothing is b
